Lines across the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes are a normal consequence of a face that moves, and they are more noticeable in some people than others for reasons that include genetics, sun exposure and smoking. Consultations at The Village Skin Studio are with a doctor. The doctor asks what you have noticed and what has prompted you to ask about it now, examines your face at rest and in movement, takes a full medical history including any neurological or neuromuscular condition and any medication you are taking, and explains what is available, what the evidence supports, what the risks are and what it costs. Some people are told that what they have described is not something we would treat. Nothing is injected without that discussion, and you are under no obligation to proceed. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Injecting the upper face is a medical procedure and carries risks. These include pain, bruising, headache, asymmetry, and drooping of the brow or eyelid — uncommon, but it can persist for weeks or months. Any effect develops over one to two weeks rather than immediately, is temporary, and has to be repeated to be maintained; some people respond less over time. The medicines used are prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through the options with you at consultation.

The cheeks and midface change with age as fat pads shift and descend, bone remodels and skin loses elasticity — and what one person reads as hollowing, another reads as flattening, or as heaviness lower down the face. Consultations at The Village Skin Studio are with a doctor, who examines the face as a whole, including the eyelids, the lower face and the jawline, because a change in the midface alters all of them. The doctor takes a full medical history and explains what is driving what you are seeing before discussing what can be done, with the evidence for each option, its risks and its cost. Treating the midface is not always the answer to a midface complaint, and some people are told exactly that. Nothing is injected without that discussion, and you are under no obligation to proceed. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Injecting the midface is a medical procedure and carries risks. These include pain, bruising, swelling — which around the eyes can be pronounced and slow to settle — asymmetry, lumps or nodules that can appear months after treatment, infection, allergic reaction, product that is visible or that moves from where it was placed, and a gradually overfilled appearance that develops with repeated treatment over years. The midface also carries one of the higher risks of blockage of a blood vessel, which can cause tissue damage and, uncommonly but seriously, permanent loss of vision. Results differ between individuals and are not permanent. The products used are prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through them with you at consultation.

Intravenous vitamin and rehydration therapy at The Village Skin Studio is provided by doctors, inside a medical practice, and treated as medicine rather than as a wellness product. Every infusion starts with a consultation: a doctor takes your history, assesses you, and decides whether intravenous treatment is clinically appropriate for you — and will say so plainly when it isn't. The infusion is prepared and administered by that doctor, who stays on site for its duration. A doctor's hands. Every time.
IV rehydration therapy is useful for recovery from surgery, acute illness, POTS flares, nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (hyperemesis).
Intravenous therapy is an invasive procedure and carries risks, including bruising, infection or inflammation at the cannula site, and reactions to what is infused. It is not suitable for everyone, and it is not a substitute for proper assessment of ongoing symptoms. Some of the preparations used are prescription medicines, which Australian law does not permit us to name or promote publicly — your doctor will discuss the available options, what the evidence does and does not support, and the cost, at your consultation.

Lips are assessed and treated at The Village Skin Studio by doctors only. The first appointment is a consultation, not a treatment: a doctor asks what is concerning you, examines your lips and the surrounding face, takes a full medical history, and explains which options exist, what each involves, what the evidence does and does not support, and what it costs. Some people are told that treatment is not appropriate for them, or not appropriate yet, and we say so. Nothing is injected at that appointment unless you have had that discussion and choose to proceed. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Injecting the lips is a medical procedure and carries risks. These include pain, bruising, swelling, lumps or irregularity, asymmetry, infection, allergic reaction, and — uncommonly, but seriously — blockage of a blood vessel, which can cause tissue damage and, very rarely, visual loss. Swelling and bruising commonly take several days to settle, so the result is not apparent on the day. Outcomes differ between individuals and are not permanent. The products used are regulated as prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through them with you at consultation. The jaw and chin are assessed at The Village Skin Studio by doctors only, and the first appointment is a consultation rather than a treatment. A doctor asks what is concerning you, examines the face as a whole rather than the jawline in isolation — including the teeth and bite, the jaw joints, and the skin and soft tissue around them — takes a full medical history, and explains what options exist, what each involves, what the evidence does and does not support, and what it costs. Some of what people ask about here turns out to be dental or orthodontic rather than cosmetic, and some people are told that injectable treatment is not appropriate for them. We say so. Nothing is injected without that discussion, and you are under no obligation to proceed. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Injecting the lower face is a medical procedure and carries risks. Depending on what is used and where, these include pain, bruising, swelling, lumps or irregularity, asymmetry, infection, allergic reaction, reduced strength of chewing, changes to the smile or to speech, nerve irritation, and — uncommonly, but seriously — blockage of a blood vessel, which can cause tissue damage and, very rarely, visual loss. Swelling and bruising commonly take several days to settle, so the result is not apparent on the day. Outcomes differ between individuals and are not permanent. The medicines used are prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through them with you at consultation.

Skin changes with age, sun exposure, illness, pregnancy, medication and smoking, and the changes people notice — texture, laxity, dullness, fine lines, scarring, pigmentation — have different causes and different answers. Consultations at The Village Skin Studio are with a doctor. The doctor examines your skin, takes a history that includes sun exposure, any history of skin cancer, and what you are already using or taking, and works out what is actually driving the change before discussing what can be done about it. That discussion covers what is available in the clinic and what is not — topical treatment, sun protection, and referral where it is warranted — with the evidence for each, its risks and its cost. Some people leave with a skincare plan and no procedure at all. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Treatments that are injected into the skin or break its surface are medical procedures and carry risks. Depending on what is done these include pain, redness, bruising, swelling, infection, prolonged or unexpected changes in pigment, scarring, and lumps or nodules that can persist; some carry the uncommon but serious risk of a blocked blood vessel, which can cause tissue damage and, very rarely, visual loss. Results differ between individuals, usually develop over weeks rather than immediately, and are not permanent. Several of the products used are prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through the options with you at consultation.

Excessive sweating — hyperhidrosis — is a recognised medical condition rather than a matter of grooming or nerves. It commonly affects the underarms, hands, feet, face or scalp, often begins in adolescence, and for some people it is enough to dictate what they wear, the work they take on and how they use their hands. Consultations at The Village Skin Studio are with a doctor. The doctor takes a history, examines the affected areas, and considers whether the sweating is primary or secondary to another condition or to a medication — a distinction that sometimes changes the diagnosis and the management entirely. Options are then discussed in order, from preparations available at a pharmacy through to procedures performed in the clinic, with the evidence, the risks and the cost of each set out. Some people are advised that their sweating is better investigated or managed elsewhere, and we say so. A doctor's hands. Every time.
Procedural treatment for sweating carries risks. Depending on the area treated these can include injection pain and bruising, temporary weakness of nearby muscles — which matters particularly when the hands are treated — headache, and increased sweating elsewhere. Any effect is temporary and treatment has to be repeated. Some of the medicines used are prescription-only in Australia, which means we are not permitted to name or describe them in public material; your doctor will go through the options with you at consultation, including those that are not injections.

Hair thinning has many causes — hormonal, nutritional, thyroid, medication-related, inflammatory scalp conditions, and patterned hair loss — and they are not treated the same way. Consultations at The Village Skin Studio are with a doctor, who takes a history, examines your scalp and hair, arranges blood tests where they are warranted, and identifies what is driving the loss before discussing what can be done. Some causes are reversible, some are not, and treatment that suits one cause does nothing for another. Options are set out with the evidence for each, its risks and its cost, and some people are advised that what is available is unlikely to help them. A doctor's hands. Every time.
